Inter Milan vs. AC Milan: They played for both

Sports Mole picks out five footballers that have played for both Inter Milan and AC Milan ahead of tomorrow's derby clash at the San Siro.

Inter Milan and AC Milan will face each other in the Derby della Madonnina tomorrow night.

A fierce rivalry exists between the two clubs, but that has not stopped over 30 players representing both sides during parts of their career.

Below, Sports Mole has picked out five of the most high profile footballers that have worn the two sets of stripes.

1. Zlatan Ibrahimovic
Not that the Swedish international needs an ego boost, but the truth is that few players have enjoyed as much success with both clubs as Ibrahimovic. In each of his three seasons with Inter, the striker won the Serie A title - form that earned him a move to Barcelona in 2009. Failure to fit into the system at the Camp Nou saw him return to Milan a year later, this time with AC, initially on a loan basis. He'd spend two seasons with the Red and Blacks before signing for current club Paris-Saint Germain, winning another Serie title in the process. In total, Ibra scored 122 goals for both teams.

2. Ronaldo
The Brazilian frontman, once regarded as the best player in world football, may have spent five seasons with Inter, but he has just one medal to show for his time there - the 1998 UEFA Cup. He actually scored one of the three goals as the Nerazzurri overcome fellow Italians Lazio in the final in Paris. A spell with Real Madrid followed, but AC took him back to Italy in January 2007. His stint was blighted with injury, but he was able to become only the second player ever (the other being Ibrahimovic) to score for both teams in the Derby della Madonnina. He lasted just under two years with AC, for whom he scored nine goals.

3. Andrea Pirlo
The midfielder struggled to make an impact during his three years with Inter, who sold him directly to AC in 2001. It would prove to be some poor business from an Inter point of view as Pirlo went on to star in AC's engine room for years to come. When he departed for Juventus in the summer of 2011 on a free transfer, he done so having won two Serie A titles, one Italian Cup, one Italian Super Cup, two Champions Leagues, two UEFA Super Cups and one FIFA World Club Cup. That's more than a healthy return for someone that cost just £12m.

4. Roberto Baggio
In 1995, Juventus coach Marcello Lippi, much to the dismay of the Old Lady supporters, decided that Baggio was no longer part of his plans, opting instead to put his faith in youngster Alessandro Del Piero. He joined AC and immediately proved Lippi wrong by helping his new employers to clinch the Serie A title during his debut season. The frontman soon fell out of favour and joined Bologna in 1997 in a bid to secure his place at the next year's World Cup with Italy. After that tournament, Baggio signed for Inter, but his arrival failed to inspire the club to trophies.

5. Mario Balotelli
There is nothing that can be written about Balotelli that hasn't been scribed already. The controversial centre-forward rose through the ranks at Inter and was part of the squad that won three league titles and a Champions League between 2007 and 2010. He had a fiery relationship with Jose Mourinho, though, and so was sold to Manchester City. However, he returned to Milan with AC in January 2012 and scored 12 goals during his first 13 outings for the club. As yet, he is yet to win anything with the Rossoneri.
