Felipe Melo scored a second-half header to win all three points for Inter Milan against Hellas Verona this evening.
After a goalless first half where both sides failed to create any meaningful opportunities, it was the visitors that came out of the blocks the fastest, as Jacopo Sala rattled the bar shortly after the restart.
However, despite coming close to breaking the deadlock, it was the home side that took the lead as Melo rose highest to powerfully head past Rafael in the Verona net.
Stefan Jovetic made a positive impact after coming on as a substitute, as the Montenegrin forward set up Ivan Perisic for a chance to make it 2-0, only for the Croatian's shot to be put behind for a corner.
Verona struggled to break down the Inter defence as the clock ticked towards full time, with Samir Handanovic untested in the Inter goal.
Roberto Mancini's side held on for all three points, which puts them top of the Serie A.
The defeat for Verona leaves them in 18th, struggling in the relegation zone with just three points.
