Inter Milan and Napoli have played out a goalless draw at the San Siro in Serie A this evening.
The hosts came close to taking the lead inside 10 minutes when the ball was played to Anderson Hernanes who let fly from range, only for his effort to be beaten away by Pepe Reina.
Mateo Kovacic was the next Inter player to try his luck following an end-to-end start to the contest, skipping away from a couple of challenges before getting a shot away at goal which needed to be kept out by Reina once more.
The Partenopei managed to create an opening of their own shortly after through Jose Callejon, who was picked out with a ball over the top, but he failed to find the target with his strike.
Following a driving run from just inside the opposition half, Rodrigo Palacio managed to use his pace to brush past the Napoli defence, but his shot from the edge of the box was off target.
Gonzalo Higuain almost managed to convert Gokhan Inler's pass five minutes after the restart, but his strike was well blocked by Yuto Nagatomo, before Dries Mertens drilled an effort narrowly wide of the far post.
Higuain came close once more on 73 minutes when he turned Hugo Campagnaro on the edge of the area, but his resulting shot ended up rising high over the bar.
Both side's continued to push for a breakthrough goal and Nagatomo almost found the net, only for Reina to save his low drive with eight minutes of the contest remaining, while Inler also came agonisingly close only to be denied by the post.
