Mick McCarthy warns against complacency

Ipswich Town manager Mick McCarthy insists that he will not accept any complacency from his players.

Mick McCarthy has told his Ipswich Town players not to get too carried away by their 3-1 victory over Nottingham Forest last night.

The Tractor Boys have collected seven points from a possible nine at Portman Road under McCarthy's management and as a result have now moved out of the Championship's relegation zone.

However, McCarthy has insisted that he won't accept any player that now decides to rest on their laurels.

"I enjoyed that - both the end result and the performance. Unless I wake up tomorrow and it's May the fourth though I'm not bothered," he told the East Anglian Daily Times. "We all get a kick from seeing it. It will feel good to see us out of the bottom three and no doubt it will give the players and the fans a lift.

"You don't get fat and lazy and fall back in though. We've got tough games coming up so it's important we maintain that level of performance now. We can't pat each other on the back and stroke each others' egos, let's do that every week if we can.

"Why haven't we been playing like that before? I haven't got a clue. If I knew the answer to that I'd pack this in a write a book that would change the world of football. I'd be a millionaire."

Next up for McCarthy's side is a trip to Bolton Wanderers on Saturday afternoon.
