Bristol City slip into the bottom three of the Championship as they draw 1-1 at Ipswich Town in the Championship.

Ipswich Town and Bristol City shared a point after a 1-1 draw at Portman Road in the Championship this afternoon.

Neil Danns had given the Robins the lead early on, before Tommy Smith's overhead kicked levelled the match for the hosts.

It was the visitors who had the game's opening chance, as good link-up play between Paul Anderson and Greg Cunningham resulted in a cross to Jon Stead, but the latter was unable to convert the cross.

The hosts then responded with a chance of their own but Luke Chambers failed to connect with Smith's cross from 10 yards out.

However, the Robins took the lead just a few minutes later, as Danns ran onto a loose ball and found the back of the net with a first-time shot from the edge of the box with 11 minutes played.

Ipswich went in search of a leveller but were denied by Tom Heaton, who made a terrific save to deny DJ Campbell.

City had a chance to double their lead on the 25-minute mark, when Stead's through ball found Albert Adomah before the latter smashed his effort wide.

With 10 minutes to go until half time, Ipswich made it 1-1 as Smith found the back of the net with an overhead kick from a corner.

Guirane N'Daw then looked to put Ipswich in front, but his 25-yard drive was held by Heaton.

Bristol were the quickest out the blocks in the second half, but Adomah had his shot saved by Stephen Henderson.

Town had a chance of their own, but Daryl Murphy shot wide from the edge of box.

City then went down the other end but after great play by Adomah, Danns had his curling effort deflected wide before Anderson rounded the keeper only for Henderson to recover.

The game quietened down until the final 10 minutes of the match, when Michael Chopra's fierce strike inside the box was fumbled by Heaton before being cleared by Matthew Bates.

Ipswich stay 20th in the table, while Bristol slip into the bottom three as a result of other fixture conclusions.
