Juventus have confirmed that defender Dani Alves broke his leg during Sunday afternoon's 3-1 defeat to Genoa at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris.
The Brazil international, who joined the Bianconeri on a free contract after his Barcelona deal expired in the summer, picked up the injury in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Alves was stretchered off the field, leaving Juventus down to 10 men for the remainder as they had already used all three subs, and the Italian champions could now be without the full-back for the remainder of the campaign as he suffered a fracture in his left fibula.
Leonardo Bonucci also left the field early due to a thigh injury, with both players to undergo further tests on Monday to determine the full extent of their respective layoffs.
Juve's defeat to Genoa was just their third in Serie A this season, but they still remain four points clear at the top of the table.
