Carlos Tevez scores on his debut as Juventus thrash Lazio to win the Italian Super Cup.

Juventus have defeated Lazio 4-0 to win the Italian Super Cup this evening.

Summer signing Carlos Tevez scored a debut goal for the Serie A champions in a frantic five-minute period during the second half.

After an even opening 10 minutes, Juventus began to dominate possession without really threatening the Lazio goal.

In the 20th minute, Paul Pogba replaced the injured Claudio Marchisio and sparked the game into life with his second touch.

A clever free kick found the Frenchman free in the box, and he made the most of his chance, firing into the bottom corner on the turn.

Gianluigi Buffon was called into action just before the break, denying Stefan Radu with an excellent save that even Lazio goalkeeper Federico Marchetti applauded.

Shortly into the second period, Juve doubled their advantage just as Lazio were starting to see more of the ball.

An excellent counter-attack, started by Andrea Pirlo, and finished competently by Giorgio Chiellini heralded a flurry of goals.

In the 54th minute Stephan Lichtsteiner, who had assisted the opening two goals, got on the scoresheet himself as he skipped past a couple of challenges before poking the ball beyond Marchetti.

Two minutes later Tevez got his debut goal. Marchetti produced a wonderful double-save to deny Lichtsteiner and Pogba, but the latter squared the ball to Tevez on his second attempt and allowing the Argentine to smash in from close range.

Arturo Vidal almost made it five midway through the half but was thwarted by Marchetti once more, before a series of Lazio chances provided Juve with a scare late on.

Miroslav Klose was the guilty man, heading wide when unmarked in the box and then shooting straight at Buffon when clean through on goal.

Juventus saw out the match comfortably with some possession football, though, and have laid down a marker for their rivals ahead of the new Serie A season.
