Los Angeles Galaxy have continued their MLS slump with a 1-0 loss away at fellow strugglers Club Deportivo Chivas USA.
The hosts bossed the opening half but were unable to make the breakthrough as Miller Bolanos was twice denied - first by Galaxy goalkeeper Brian Perk and then by the post.
LA improved after the break and Pat Noonan and Kyle Nakazawa both forced strong saves out of Dan Kennedy in the Chivas goal.
The game exploded into life on 70 minutes as Jose Correa's goal-bound shot was blocked on the line by the hand of Brazilian defender David Junior Lopes.
Lopes was shown a straight red card and Correa converted the penalty low into the corner to give Chivas the lead.
David Beckham was then immediately introduced and the visitors improved but they failed to claim an equaliser as the former England captain was thwarted by the in-form Kennedy.
Galaxy are now without a win in their last five matches.
