Los Angeles Galaxy had to come from behind to share a 1-1 draw with Chicago Fire in the MLS this evening.
The home side made a strong start to the match as Quincy Amarikwa fired just over inside the opening five minutes, while Grant Ward had an effort saved in the 17th minute.
AJ DeLaGarza tried to set up Robbie Keane for Galaxy, but the Republic or Ireland international drifted offside while rushing into the penalty area.
Juninho tried to opening the scoring for Los Angeles early in the second half, but his long-range effort was blocked on the edge of the box.
The hosts were given the chance to take the lead in the 68th minute when Juninho brought down Amarikwa inside the penalty area, allowing Jeff Larentowicz to fire home from the spot.
The goalscorer came close to setting up a second for Chicago a few minutes later when he crossed the ball in for Juan Luis Anangono, but his finish was just wide.
The miss allowed the visitors to get back on level terms shortly after as Robbie Rogers crossed the ball in for Landon Donovan to tap home from close range.
Larentowicz tried to force a winner inside the final 10 minutes for Fire, but Jaime Penedo saved his drilled effort from outside the box to ensure that Los Angeles came away with a point.
