Lazio are to consider legal action against the Royal Dutch Football Federation over the injury to Stefan de Vrij while the defender was on international duty.
The 23-year-old played 45 minutes in the Netherlands' 3-0 defeat to Turkey in September, when the Serie A club believed he was carrying a slight knee injury.
The Holland international has not played since and according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lazio are looking at the possibility of litigation against the Dutch football federation for putting one of their players at risk of further injury.
De Vrij will be out until at least January after his knee issue required surgery earlier this month.
