Lazio and Roma have played out a goalless draw in their Serie A clash at the Stadio Olimpico.

Alessandro Florenzi wasted a good chance to give the visitors an early lead when he was picked out at the back post by Maicon, but he could only fire his volleyed effort over the bar.

Roma had a goal disallowed midway through the first half. Maicon saw his shot pushed away by Valon Berisha and Gervinho followed up to slot home the rebound, but the forward was adjudged to have been in an offside position.

Francesco Totti tested Berisha with a long-range effort soon after, but the keeper did well to hold onto his powerful strike.

Alvaro Gonzalez fired over the bar for Lazio, before Gervinho curled a strike wide when he was found in space just inside the box.

Gervinho looked to break the deadlock in the opening minutes of the second half, but his powerful strike from a tight angle was pushed wide by Berisha at his near post.

Roma continued to dominate and Kevin Strootman saw his low effort go just wide of the post with the keeper beaten.

With five minutes left to play, Michel Bastos burst forward down the left before cutting inside and poking an effort wide of the near post.

Despite their pressure, Roma could not find the breakthrough and the Rome derby finished level.
