Kalvin Phillips could be set to undergo shoulder surgery in the near future to deal with the niggling problem.

The Leeds United midfielder has been a regular for the club since they returned to the Premier League, but he has been battling this issue since the end of last season.

He picked up the injury against West Bromwich Albion and has never full recovered from it, which is why surgery is now being considered as an option.

Marcelo Bielsa has discussed the possibility of that happening, which is going to be determined by how long he will be out of action due to his current hamstring problem.

"If the time that [Phillips] needs to recover from this [hamstring] injury exceeds the one that he needs to recover from his shoulder, then it makes sense," the Leeds boss said during his press conference.

Leeds United will face the defending European Champions Chelsea today as they look for only their fourth victory of the season.
