Adam Clayton has conceded that Middlesbrough did not have it all their own way during their 3-0 win over Leeds United this afternoon.
An own goal from Giuseppe Bellusci, coupled with strikes either side of the break by David Nugent and substitute Diego Fabbrini secured all three points for the home side.
However, the statistics at the final whistle showed that Leeds had 12 shots to Boro's six, while the away team had 59% of the possession.
"It was far from straight forward. Leeds passed the ball really well and caused us problems - more than other sides have here," Clayton told Sky Sports News.
"It was a lively encounter and there were a few tackles flying in, but it was played in a good spirit and we are pleased to get the win."
The victory was Boro's fifth on the bounce in the Championship and their seventh in all competitions.
