Former Leeds United defender Norman Hunter calls on the club to appoint an experienced manager.

Former Leeds United defender Norman Hunter believes that the club need an experienced manager in order to push for promotion next season.

The Championship outfit are currently without a manager following Neil Warnock's departure on Monday, but it is understood that an appointment could be made by the end of the week.

Former Reading manager Brian McDermott and former Bolton Wanderers boss Owen Coyle have both been linked with the position, with Hunter backing the duo for the role.

"I do not think it is a job for a young man. It is a perfect role for an experienced manager like Brian McDermott or Owen Coyle," he told BBC Sport.

Hunter played for Leeds from 1962 to 1976.
