Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has suggested that it is not easy to keep Marcelo Bielsa at Elland Road.
Bielsa guided the Yorkshire giants to Premier League promotion last year, an achievement which has been followed by 10 points being collected from seven league games this season.
With the Argentine only holding a one-year contract, Radrizzani has acknowledged that retaining the services of the 65-year-old is not a foregone conclusion at the end of each campaign.
Speaking to beIN Sports, Radrizzani said: "Well, I hope he can stay with us for a long time, but we like to decide year by year because obviously as I said in another interview he's not a young manager, he's 65 and his family, his wife is often in Argentina.
"Hopefully he can stay longer – 60 is the new 40 these days! If not, I think what he's building is the foundation for a proper club."
Bielsa has never spent more than three seasons in any of his previous club positions.
