Sol Bamba has been named as Leeds United's new club captain by manager Uwe Rosler.
The Ivorian defender joined Leeds on a permanent deal this summer after spending the second half of last season on loan at Elland Road from Italian club Palermo.
Rosler described the decision as "natural", telling The Yorkshire Evening Post: "He's been in England and he understands the English culture and mentality of the Championship.
"He's also been in Italy and speaks several languages and can bridge the gap. He can unify the dressing room. That's very important."
Last season the captain's armband was passed around at Elland Road, with Jason Pearce, Stephen Warnock, Liam Cooper and Bamba himself all skippering the side on occasions.
Leeds kick off their campaign by hosting recently-relegated Burnley on Saturday.
