Reading midfielder Jobi McAnuff has blasted Leeds United's players for making numerous "dangerous tackles" during the Royals' 2-0 win at the Madejski Stadium.

Zac Thompson received a red card after just 12 minutes for a reckless tackle on the 30-year-old winger, while Michael Brown and Danny Pugh were lucky to complete the game after making similarly malicious-looking challenges.

McAnuff, who is concerned that teammate Jem Karacan may have broken his ankle after being caught by Pugh, told talkSPORT: "It got a little bit out of control."

"We tried to not get too involved in those tactics but it is difficult when yourself and your teammates are getting literally chopped down. There were some very high and some very dangerous tackles.

"You don't mind a fair honest tackle but when they're the ones putting players in danger, like the one today that's happened on Jem Karacan, then you're angry. Some of the tackles leave a sour taste in the mouth."

Victory took Reading to the top of the Championship table.
