Leeds United boss Steve Evans attacks Football League over fixture movement

Leeds United manager Steve Evans launches an attack on the Football League over several of their matches being moved for live television coverage.

Leeds United manager Steve Evans has claimed that the Football League allows so many of the club's fixtures to move for television coverage to disadvantage them and ensure that they stay in the Championship.

Leeds have had 10 of their games this season broadcast on Sky Sports before the turn of the year, and Evans feels that it can be advantageous if their opponents have more time between matches.

Referring to the club's recent games against Wolverhampton Wanderers and Preston North End, Evans told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "It was difficult enough to come out of Wolverhampton Wanderers, get back to Elland Road at three in the morning and then turn it around at Preston. Now we're asked to do it again.

"But I suppose if you're the biggest club in the Football League, the Football League perhaps want to keep you in the Football League. That's how it feels when you're in Elland Road."

This weekend, Leeds's fixture against Nottingham Forest has been pushed back to Sunday from Boxing Day, meaning that their opponents on Tuesday, Derby County, will have had over 24 hours more rest when they meet next week.

Evans's men have won three out of their last four matches to move within five points of the playoffs.
