Stephen Warnock's first-half strike earned Leeds United their second win of the Championship season as they beat Bolton Wanderers 1-0 at Elland Road this afternoon.
Bolton did not get off to the best of starts as David Wheater picked up an injury in the seventh minute, meaning that he had to be replaced by Dorian Dervite at the back.
Despite the early enforced change, it was Bolton who created the game's first meaningful chance when Jay Spearing played in Joe Mason, who saw his shot saved in the top corner by Marco Silvestri.
Leeds built on the great work from their goalkeeper as they took the lead in the 17th minute, as Warnock collected Billy Sharp's pass before drilling across goal and into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0.
The hosts could have taken a 2-0 lead into the break, but Sharp's headed effort from Scott Wootton's cross was kept out by Adam Bogdan.
Bolton went in search of an equaliser in an enterprising second half, but Lee Chung-yong was denied by some smart goalkeeping from Silvestri, before the keeper pulled off another important stop to deny Neil Danns.
United should have made the three points certain late on with a second goal, only for Mirco Antenucci to flash an effort wide of the post from inside the penalty area.
