Leeds United have confirmed that defender Gaetano Berardi has signed a new three-year contract to keep him at the club until 2020.
The Switzerland full-back, who started in the Whites' opening Championship win over Bolton Wanderers but had to be stretchered off, had just a year left on the previous deal he signed in 2015.
Having joined Leeds from Italian side Sampdoria in 2014, the 28-year-old has made a total of 83 appearances for the Yorkshire club, including 29 last season.
Teammate Pontus Jansson expressed his delight with Berardi penning a new deal, posting on Twitter: "One of the best persons I ever met during my career and easily the one with the biggest heart! Complimenti fratello [congratulations brother]!"
Berardi becomes the latest of the club's players to sign a new contract in the last week, alongside Kalvin Phillips and Tyler Denton.
