Newcastle United have reportedly identified Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville as a potential summer transfer target.
The Magpies have recently remained on course to enjoy their best season for two decades, Eddie Howe's side currently sitting in third position in the Premier League standings.
Newcastle recorded a remarkable 6-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur - their direct rivals for Champions League - at St James' Park on Sunday afternoon.
Howe can claim to be well stocked for options in the final third with £40m having been spent on Everton winger Anthony Gordon in January.
Nevertheless, if Newcastle secure a place in the Champions League or another European competition for 2023-24, there will be a desire to further strengthen the squad.
As it stands, Howe's budget for the summer is yet to be determined, it having been well-documented that Newcastle are close to their FFP limit.
However, according to Football Insider, talks have taken place behind the scenes regarding a possible bid for Summerville.
The Netherlands Under-21 international has had to remain patient to earn regular senior action at Elland Road, but that game time has arrived during 2022-23.
Summerville has posted four goals and two assists from 24 outings in the top flight, the playmaker one of the few positives from Leeds' current campaign.
Although Summerville is tied to the Yorkshire giants until 2026, Leeds would face the prospect of having to try to fend off bids in the summer should they be relegated.
On the back of three successive defeats, Leeds occupy 16th position in the table, sitting just one point above the relegation zone.
Summerville completed the 90 minutes on Saturday as Javi Gracia's side lost out 2-1 at Fulham, the first time that he had played a full match since March 4.
The report claims that Borussia Dortmund are also monitoring the situation, aware that signing the 21-year-old would represent a shrewd piece of business. body check tags ::
