Crystal Palace moved six points clear of the relegation zone by beating Leicester City 1-0 in their Premier League match this afternoon.

The Foxes dominated the first half, with Riyad Mahrez seeing a low shot saved by Julian Speroni and David Nugent heading an effort against the bar.

However, the visitors took the lead shortly after the break when Joe Ledley headed in following a corner.

Substitute Jamie Vardy saw two late attempts saved by Speroni as the Foxes lost for the third successive league match.

LEICESTER CITY:

Goal

Mark Schwarzer: The keeper was rarely troubled as Palace managed just two efforts on target and he could not have done much about Ledley's strike. (7/10)

Defence

Danny Simpson: Struggled to deal with the pace of Zaha and was shown a yellow card in the first half for a poor challenge on the winger. (5/10)

Wes Morgan: Made a couple of decent blocks to deny Palace in the first half and was generally a strong presence at the back for the Foxes. (6/10)

Marcin Wasilewski: Another decent display from a Leicester defender, who never put a foot wrong. (6/10)

Paul Konchesky: Tried to help out his team going forward and saw one of his low crosses take a deflection before being well saved by the keeper. (6/10)

Midfield

Matty James: Had some good touches on the ball, but was unable to really threaten with a couple of tame efforts on goal. (6/10)

Esteban Cambiasso: Showed his experience in the middle with a solid performance. He had a chance to score in the second half after being found in the box by Nugent, but he was unable to sort out his feet in time. (6/10)

Jeff Schlupp: Had a shot well saved by Speroni in the first half, but he faded badly after the break and was replaced by Albrighton soon after the hour mark. (6/10)

Riyad Mahrez: One of the best players on the pitch this afternoon. Most of Leicester's best moves came through him and he was unlucky to see a decent effort kept out by Speroni before the break. (7/10)

Attack

Leonardo Ulloa: Not the best of games for the Argentine. He did not see too much of the ball and when he did he gave it away cheaply on more than one occasion. (6/10)

David Nugent: Was unlucky not to score in the first half with a powerful header that came back off the bar. He looked a genuine threat for Leicester, but was replaced by Kramaric late on. (7/10)

Substitutes

Jamie Vardy: Had two decent efforts saved by the keeper in a lively final 10 minutes. (7/10)

Andrej Kramaric: Leicester's record signing barely had a touch and failed to get involved in the match. (5/10)

Marc Albrighton: Delivered some decent crosses, but did not see enough of the ball. (6/10)

CRYSTAL PALACE:

Julian Speroni: Made some great saves for the visitors in a standout display. He was alert until the last minute and was the difference for Palace today. (8/10)

Martin Kelly: Was given a tough time by Mahrez in the first half, but he improved as the game wore on. (6/10)

Damien Delaney: Rarely troubled by Ulloa and kept the hosts at bay as they looked for a way back into the game late on. (7/10)

Scott Dann: Had a good first half, but, following a clash of heads with Morgan, he needed treatment and did not reappear after the break. (7/10)

Joel Ward: Solid performance at the back. Was rarely troubled down his flank. (6/10)

Midfield

James McArthur: Did not see too much of the ball, but helped his side to put pressure on the Leicester midfield. (6/10)

Joe Ledley: Scored the winning goal for Palace with a header after Hangeland's ball back across the box. A poor back pass moments later almost cost his team the win, but the hosts were unable to profit. (7/10)

Jordon Mutch: Struggled to get involved and was replaced by Sanogo at the break. (5/10)

Wilfried Zaha: Looked lively all afternoon and caused plenty of problems down the left flank. He won his battle with Simpson and created some good openings for his side. (7/10)

Jason Puncheon: Saw more of the ball as the game wore on and came close to scoring with a great strike from range that went inches wide of the post. (7/10)

Attack

Dwight Gayle: Struggled to impose himself on the match and was replaced by Guedioura late on. (6/10)

Yaya Sonogo: Came on at half time and proved a handful for the Leicester defence. (7/10)

Brede Hangeland: Set up Ledley's goal with a towering header at the back post and helped his team to produce a resolute defensive performance in the second half. (7/10)

Adlene Guedioura: Showed some good touches after coming on for the final minutes and helped his team to see out the match. (6/10)
