Jamie Vardy scores two and misses a penalty as newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City hammer Everton 3-1 in their last home game of the season.

Newly-crowned Premier League champions Leicester City delighted a packed house at the King Power Stadium by seeing off Everton 3-1 in their last home game of the season.

The Foxes, who were confirmed as top-flight champions for the first time in their history earlier this week, enjoyed a party atmosphere as supporters arrived early to celebrate the team's success.

Before kickoff, famous Italian tenor Andrea Bocelli, a friend of Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri, sung 'Nessun Dorma' and then, after the final whistle, Foxes captain Wes Morgan lifted the Premier League trophy.

It took the champions less than five minutes to take the lead and the goal came from top scorer Jamie Vardy, who turned home Andy King's cross for his 23rd league goal of the season after sitting out the last two matches through suspension.

King himself then should have made it two, but headed straight at Joel Robles from a Riyad Mahrez cross.

Welshman King, the only survivor of Leicester's 2009 League One title who now has a winner's medal in each of the top three tiers, did eventually double the lead in the 33rd minute by sweeping home after Leighton Baines's tackle fell kindly for the midfielder.

Everton were being completely overawed by the occasion, but they could have got back into it 13 minutes into the second half when Romelu Lukaku headed straight at Kasper Schmeichel.

Christian Fuchs then squandered a one-on-one opportunity for his first Foxes goal, but it was soon 3-0 to the home side as Vardy slammed home from the penalty spot after being upended by Matthew Pennington.

The England man should have finished with a hat-trick and gone level with international teammate Harry Kane in the scoring charts, but first he failed to beat Robles when through on goal, before missing his second penalty of the match after Darron Gibson slid in on Jeffrey Schlupp.

Leonardo Ulloa headed over as Leicester went in search of another, but it was in fact Everton who scored the game's fourth goal two minutes from time when Kevin Mirallas wriggled his way past two challenges before slotting past Schmeichel.

With victory, Leicester reach 80 points and go 10 clear at the top of the table. Everton drop a place to seventh.
