Liverpool midfielder Emre Can has admitted that his side can still improve following their 3-0 victory over Maribor at Anfield this evening.
The Reds thrashed the same opponents 7-0 in Slovenia a fortnight ago, but it took until the second half for them to make the breakthrough this evening as goals from Mohamed Salah, Can and Daniel Sturridge fired them to victory.
Liverpool now enjoy a one-point lead in Group E, meaning that victory at home to Spartak Moscow on matchday six will guarantee a place in the last 16, and Can acknowledged that the win leaves his side in a strong position.
"It was difficult in the first half because they were deep but we got more space in the second half and it was a game where we had to be patient," he told BT Sport.
"We could do better this season but it is still early. Now we are in a good position in the Champions League and hopefully we will be in the next round."
Liverpool's next Champions League outing comes away to Sevilla on November 21.
