How Liverpool could line up against Genk

Sports Mole looks at how Liverpool could line up for Tuesday's Champions League group game against Genk at Anfield.

Liverpool could move to the brink of the Champions League knockout stages when they welcome Genk to Anfield on Tuesday night.

The Reds have bounced back from defeat on matchday one to win their next two games in Group E, including a 4-1 triumph in the reverse fixture in Belgium last month.

Liverpool kept their winning run going with a late turnaround against Aston Villa on Saturday and will look to make it 11 unbeaten across all competitions.

Here, Sports Mole looks at how Jurgen Klopp could set his side out for the match.

Liverpool will still be without Joel Matip for this match as he continues his recovery from a knee injury, meaning that Dejan Lovren is expected to partner Virgil van Dijk at the heart of the defence again.

Joe Gomez may be hopeful of a start, though, and his chances could be increased by the possibility of Klopp choosing to rest players with one eye on a top-of-the-table showdown with Manchester City on Sunday.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain scored twice in the reverse fixture and should be handed another starting opportunity for this one, while the likes of James Milner and Divock Origi could also benefit from the rotation.

Origi could take the place of any of the front three, but with Sadio Mane in such fine form and Mohamed Salah having scored four in his last five games it could be Roberto Firmino who is given a rest.

Fabinho was left out against Aston Villa for fear of him picking up a booking which would have seen him miss the Man City clash, but that only applies to domestic action and so he could return to the side for this one.
