Jamie Carragher believes that Mario Balotelli was the right man to take a penalty for Liverpool in last night's Europa League last-32 match against Besiktas at Anfield.
Club captain Steven Gerrard described his Italian teammate as 'disrespectful' for taking the ball off designated penalty-taker Jordan Henderson.
Carragher gave his views on the controversy by tweeting: "Just heard it was Henderson supposed to be on them not Sturridge, more reason for Mario to take it!!!
"Pressure pen late in a big European game you want your best man on it. Balotelli was that man!"
The controversial striker, who has scored twice in his last three games, thanked Henderson after the match for allowing him to take the penalty.
