Former Liverpool winger Steve McManaman has hit out at the team's fringe players by claiming that they are "not good enough".
McManaman was speaking after the Reds were held to a 1-1 draw against Sion in the Europa League at Anfield.
Adam Lallana opened the scoring in the fourth minute, but the Merseyside outfit failed to recover when Ebenezer Assifuah levelled the scoreline 14 minutes later.
Manager Brendan Rodgers, who is under increasing pressure due to a string of poor results, opted to rest striker Daniel Sturridge and James Milner, while Philippe Coutinho was named on the bench.
"Their fringe players aren't good enough and that could affect confidence as you could see the crowd wasn't happy at the end of the game," McManaman said on BT Sport.
"Brendan Rodgers should be answering questions about how great his side were - instead he is saying things like 'it's a big disappointment'. It shows what the mood must be like at Anfield."
Liverpool will take on Merseyside rivals Everton at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
