Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has admitted that his side failed to take their chances after they were dumped out of the Europa League by Besiktas.
The Reds fell foul to a 5-4 penalty shootout defeat in Turkey, as Dejan Lovren missed from the spot to send the Anfield club tumbling out of the tournament at the last-32 stage.
"We created chances in the first half. We were missing a lot of our creativity [with the absent players], but it's no excuse," said Rodgers, according to The Express.
"The one mistake we made we got punished for when we were too deep for the moment they scored. It was a tight game and we just didn't manage to finish the opportunities that we had.
"I can only give credit to my players even though we went out on penalties."
Liverpool were missing up to eight influential players for the clash at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium.
