Liverpool midfielder Jonjo Shelvey has admitted that he hopes to have paid back manager Brendan Rodgers after he came off the bench to score twice in Thursday's Europa League win over Young Boys.
Th 20-year-old gave the Reds a 4-3 lead in Switzerland with 15 minutes to play before sealing the thrilling victory in the final moments.
"Ever since he's come here, the manager has been first class with me and he's given me an opportunity. Hopefully with these two goals I've repaid him for that," Shelvey told reporters.
"The team are going to give 100% whoever he puts out and it was a great performance from the younger ones. It's good to come away from a place like this with all three points."
The other game in Liverpool's Europa League group saw Anzhi Makhachkala draw 1-1 at Udinese.
