Kenny Dalglish believes that his side's slow start to this evening's FA Cup final cost them the chance of lifting the trophy.
Goals from Chelsea duo Ramires and Didier Drogba within the opening hour left the Reds with too much to do, despite Andy Carroll pulling a goal back.
"We've just got to learn our lessons from it and understand we can't start the game like that," Dalglish told ITV Sport. "We'll assess the season at the end of the season.
"For the first hour they were better than us - maybe a bit of naivety from our point of view or experience for them - but if we had more of the game with that pace and commitment maybe we'd have got a better score."
The two sides will meet in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
