Norwich City have been knocked out of the FA Cup following a fifth-round defeat to Liverpool.

The Canaries travelled to Anfield but were unable to beat the Reds, with a first-half brace from Takumi Minamino proving to be enough for Jurgen Klopp's men.

Lukas Rupp found the back of the net for Norwich in the 79th minute, but that was not enough for Dean Smith's team, who failed to progress into the final eight.

The club had previously defeated Charlton Athletic and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the competition, having won both matches 1-0, but they shall now be placing all their focus onto the Premier League relegation battle.

The following teams are in the hat for the quarter-finals: Chelsea, Crystal Palace, Manchester City, Liverpool, Southampton, Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest or Huddersfield and Everton or Boreham Wood.

The Canaries will be back in action on Saturday when they face Brentford in the Premier League. body check tags ::
