Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Southampton

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Sunday's Premier League fixture against Southampton.
Sports Mole

Liverpool conclude their Premier League campaign with the long trip to St Mary's to square off against already-relegated Southampton on Sunday.

Up until last week, Liverpool fancied their chances of sneaking into the top four of the standings to edge out either Newcastle United or Manchester United for a Champions League place.

However, as a result of Manchester United's win over Chelsea on Thursday night, they are now guaranteed a fifth-placed finish, making this weekend's match effectively a dead-rubber.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of the clash with the Saints, who are guaranteed to finish bottom of the table.

Andrew Robertson

Status: Major doubt
Type of injury: Groin
Possible return date: May 28 (vs. Southampton)

Jurgen Klopp revealed in his pre-match press conference that Andrew Robertson had picked up a slight groin injury which needs a scan. While the injury does not seem to be serious, and the left-back has not been ruled out of this match, it is unlikely that he will be risked in a game with nothing riding on it.

Ibrahima Konate

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Illness
Possible return date: May 28 (vs. Southampton)

Klopp also revealed that Ibrahima Konate has been suffering from illness this week, making him a slight doubt for Sunday's trip to St Mary's.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: Unknown

Experienced midfielder Thiago Alcantara recently underwent surgery on a hip injury, and the Spaniard will be unavailable for selection for the remainder of the 2022-23 campaign.

Calvin Ramsay

Status: Out
Type of injury: Knee
Possible return date: Unknown

Calvin Ramsay remains on the sidelines with a long-term knee injury, and the defender will be working towards being available at some stage of the 2023-24 campaign.

Stefan Bajcetic

Status: Out
Type of injury: Adductor
Possible return date: Unknown

Stefan Bajcetic's impressive season ended when he picked up an adductor problem in March, with the midfielder forced to watch from the sidelines in recent weeks.

Naby Keita

Status: Out
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: Unknown

Naby Keita, who is leaving on a free transfer this summer, has remained on the sidelines in recent weeks with a muscular issue, and it is extremely likely that he has played his last game for the club.

Darwin Nunez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Foot
Possible return date: May 28 (vs. Southampton)

Darwin Nunez returned to full training for Liverpool earlier this week following a toe injury and should be in contention to feature in the final game of the season.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Liverpool have no players suspended for this match.
