Liverpool team news: Injury, suspension list vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers

Sports Mole rounds up all of Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Sports Mole

Seeking a fourth Premier League success on the spin, Liverpool kick off this weekend's action on Saturday lunchtime with a trip to face Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Jurgen Klopp's side went into the first international break of the season sitting pretty in third place in the table, having taken 10 points from the first 12 on offer.

Following back-to-back wins over Bournemouth and Newcastle United, the Reds stunted a hitherto clinical Aston Villa side 3-0 at Anfield, as Dominik Szoboszlai and Mohamed Salah netted either side of a Matty Cash own goal.

Here, Sports Mole rounds up Liverpool's latest injury and suspension news ahead of their clash with Wolves, who occupy 15th spot in the standings at present.

Trent Alexander-Arnold

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hamstring
Possible return date: September 21 (vs. LASK Linz)

Trent Alexander-Arnold ran the show against Aston Villa before being taken off in the second half with a hamstring injury, which the right-back did not believe was too severe. However, he was forced to withdraw from the England squad for September's internationals and has been ruled out of this weekend's early kickoff.

Ibrahima Konate

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Thigh
Possible return date: September 16 (vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Similarly, Ibrahima Konate was unable to represent France this month due to a thigh injury, which has also kept him out of the Reds' last two games, but he has trained for a couple of days and should be available at Molineux.

Thiago Alcantara

Status: Out
Type of injury: Hip
Possible return date: Unknown

Thiago Alcantara was on the verge of a first-team return before suffering a setback in his recovery from a serious hip injury, and the Spaniard is yet to begin working with the ball again, meaning that he will need to wait a little longer before making his comeback.

Darwin Nunez

Status: Minor doubt
Type of injury: Muscle
Possible return date: September 16 (vs. Wolverhampton Wanderers)

Darwin Nunez was withdrawn at the break during Uruguay's World Cup qualifying defeat to Ecuador and was confirmed to have been nursing a muscle injury by Marcelo Bielsa, but Klopp is confident that he will shake off the issue in time for the weekend.

LIVERPOOL'S SUSPENSION LIST

Virgil van Dijk

Return date: September 21 (vs. LASK Linz)

Virgil van Dijk missed the win over Villa owing to his red card against Newcastle, and the Dutchman has now been slapped with an extended suspension - as well as a £100,000 fine - after admitting a charge of improper conduct at St James' Park, leaving Klopp without his captain once again.
