Erling Haaland will reportedly be fit for Manchester City's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon despite suffering an injury scare while on international duty.

The centre-forward twisted his ankle during Norway's friendly with the Faroe Islands on Thursday, and he has withdrawn from their squad for Sunday's game against Scotland, with the national team no longer able to qualify for Euro 2024.

"Erling Braut Haaland, in consultation with the medical officer Ola Sand and national team manager Stale Solbakken, has come to the conclusion that he has to miss the European Championship qualifier against Scotland," read a statement from Norway.

"Haaland hit his foot during the match against the Faroe Islands on Thursday and is therefore not eligible to play in Glasgow."

Meanwhile, Norway national team doctor Ola Sand said: "The injury is not serious, but he is in so much pain and somewhat restricted function that the Scotland game unfortunately comes a little too early."

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Haaland is expected to be available for Man City's Premier League clash with Liverpool on Saturday afternoon.

The Norwegian has again been in impressive form for the Citizens this season, scoring 17 times and registering four assists in 18 appearances in all competitions.

Haaland has 13 goals in 12 Premier League matches this term, and he netted twice in the 4-4 draw with Chelsea before the international break.

The forward's future is currently being called into question, though, with Real Madrid believed to be preparing to make a move for him next summer.

Man City are currently top of the table, one point clear of second-placed Liverpool, ahead of what is shaping up to be a fascinating contest at the Etihad Stadium in the early start.

The hosts will definitely be without the services of Kevin De Bruyne, Sergio Gomez and John Stones for the contest with Jurgen Klopp's side.

Meanwhile, Nathan Ake, Ederson, Mateo Kovacic, Matheus Nunes and Rodri are all doubts for the clash due to issues which have occurred over the international break.

Man City are already through to the knockout round of the Champions League, so Guardiola could rotate his side against RB Leipzig in the competition on November 28, with the fixture coming between league matches against Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur.

The Citizens will also take on Aston Villa on December 6 during a tough run, and the treble winners have already lost three times in all competitions this season. body check tags ::
