Jordan Henderson has flown to New York to see a specialist about his foot injury.
The England midfielder was injured during Liverpool's match against Bournemouth four weeks ago and is hoping to return for the Premier League match against Norwich City on Sunday.
The Liverpool medical team believe that the 25-year-old will miss the Norwich match and hope that orthopaedic specialist Dr James Cozzarelli will be able to speed up Henderson's recovery, without the need for surgery.
Liverpool have picked up just one point out of a possible nine since Henderson's injury.
