Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that a "double check" will be made on Philippe Coutinho's fitness before a decision is taken on whether he will feature against Southampton in the League Cup tomorrow night.
The Brazilian has missed the club's last two matches because of a hamstring complaint that he picked up in the 4-1 win away at Manchester City.
Coutinho recently returned to training, but Klopp has insisted that the 23-year-old will only play at the St Mary's Stadium if he is fully fit.
"Coutinho could be close, but we need to check and double check the situation," the German boss told reporters.
The playmaker has scored five goals from his 16 appearances in all competitions this term.
