Liverpool goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has insisted that his side deserve their spot in next month's League Cup final.
The Reds headed into tonight's semi-final second leg against Stoke City at Anfield with a 1-0 advantage from the first meeting in the Potteries.
However, they were taken all the way to a penalty shootout this evening thanks to a strike from Stoke's Marko Arnautovic just before the break.
The hosts eventually prospered 6-5 on spot kicks, with Joe Allen tucking away the winning penalty.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Mignolet said: "I think we deserved it, we were the better side over the two legs."
Jurgen Klopp's men will battle for the trophy with either Manchester City or Everton, who meet at the Etihad Stadium tomorrow night with the Toffees leading 2-1 on aggregate.
