Manchester City star Raheem Sterling has admitted that it was "difficult" to celebrate winning the League Cup final after beating his former club Liverpool.
The 21-year-old, who left the Reds for City in a £49m deal last summer, was booed by Liverpool fans whenever he touched the ball during Sunday's showdown.
Sterling squandered a handful of chances in normal time, which ended 1-1, but ended up on the triumphant side after City won 3-1 on penalties.
After the game, Sterling wrote on Instagram: "Dream come true to win league cup and in the area I grew up...But also difficult to celebrate against some my close friends in football, but have to give all the praise too the most high #togodbetheglory."
Sterling will return to Anfield for the first time since leaving on Wednesday when City take on Liverpool in the Premier League.
