The January transfer window is now open, with Liverpool continuing to be linked with a host of big names.
Jurgen Klopp has been forced to contend with a crippling injury crisis during the first half of the season, leading to speculation that the Premier League champions could move for a new defender this month.
Here, Sports Mole rounds up the latest news on possible comings and goings from Anfield.
Friday morning's Liverpool transfer talk news roundup:
Report: David Alaba turned down lucrative Liverpool offer
Bayern Munich defender David Alaba has reportedly turned down a lucrative offer from Liverpool to instead sign a pre-contract agreement with Real Madrid.
The in-demand Austria international is set to leave Bayern once his existing deal expires in the summer, ending an 11-season stay with the Bundesliga giants.
Liverpool were previously linked with Alaba, who can play full-back, centre-back or in central midfield, but transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims on his podcast that Madrid have won the race for his signature.
The decision supposedly comes despite the Reds offering the 28-year-old more money than both Los Blancos and fellow interested club Barcelona.
Alaba has featured 23 times for Bayern in all competitions this season, predominantly in the heart of defence.
Georginio Wijnaldum puts pressure on Liverpool to provide contract update
Liverpool midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum believes that the club should do the talking when it comes to updates on his contract situation.
The former Newcastle United man has entered the final six months of his deal with the Premier League champions, and little progress has been made with regards to a renewal.
Speculation over a potential move to Barcelona - and reunion with Ronald Koeman - is rife, and Wijnaldum has since insisted that he should not be the one to comment on his future.
Speaking to Sky Sports News, Wijnaldum said: "There is no update yet. I also think I am not the one who should give the update, the club should. If there will be an update the club will give it."
Despite his unresolved contract situation, the 30-year-old remains an integral cog of Jurgen Klopp's machine with 25 appearances across all competitions this season, including 16 Premier League starts.
Lille's Renato Sanches and Udinese's Rodrigo De Paul have both been mentioned as possible replacements should Wijnaldum indeed head for the exit door this summer.
