John Aldridge: 'A lot of Liverpool players are struggling'

John Aldridge believes that a lot of Liverpool's players are "struggling" this season.

Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge believes that manager Brendan Rodgers needs to get the players firing again following a lacklustre start to the season.

The Merseyside outfit have failed to recreate last season's blistering attacking threat following the departure of Luis Suarez to Barcelona in the summer.

After 10 games in the 2014-15 campaign, Liverpool have won just four, drawn two and lost four, which has placed them seventh in the Premier League table.

"A lot of players are struggling," Aldridge wrote in his Liverpool Echo column. "Players who you expected to kick on from last season haven't and confidence is low.

"Brendan Rodgers really has his work cut out and there are some people questioning whether last term was simply a case of a 'one season wonder'.

"Either way, he needs to get Liverpool back on track and the manager needs to get these new players integrated into the side. Lazar Markovic, Dejan Lovren, Adam Lallana and Emre Can need to come to the table."

Liverpool have turned their attention to the Champions League as they prepare to take on Group B opponents Real Madrid at the Bernabeu this evening.
