Former Everton midfielder Tim Cahill has paid tribute to departing Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, describing it as a "privilege" to have played against him in Merseyside derbies.
The 34-year-old Reds talisman will bring down the curtain on a 17-year career at Anfield when he joins MLS side Los Angeles Galaxy in July.
Cahill wrote on Instagram: "Farewell to Steven Gerrard, it was a privilege to have played against this guy in the derbies and more importantly to see his passion for his club.
Yes, he's a red and I'll always be blue, but I have a lot of respect for this guy. Liverpool will not be the same without him. Wish him and his family all the best in America in the MLS."
Cahill, currently playing for Chinese outfit Shanghai Shenhua, played for Everton between 2004 and 2012.
