Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher believes that Luis Suarez is irreplaceable, but has called for manager Brendan Rodgers to add to his strikeforce before the end of the transfer window.
The Reds sold their 31-goal striker to Barcelona for around £75m last month, and Rickie Lambert is the only striker to arrive to Anfield for the coming season. Former centre-back Carragher has said that more quality will be needed.
He told the Daily Mail: "They can't replace Suarez and it is evident that when Daniel Sturridge gets injured, they will need more firepower.
"Buying so many players means that one or two will fail to live up to their price tag. The majority of Rodgers's first-choice XI will be from last season's team.
"In terms of teams challenging for the top and the timing of it, Liverpool going to Stamford Bridge with three games to go looks the best game. It was pivotal last year and may prove to be again."
Belgium international striker Divock Origi will spend the coming season on loan at Lille following the completion of a £10m deal last month.
