Liverpool boss Kenny Dalglish has urged his side to continue to believe in themselves, despite their recent run of form.
The Reds, who have lost four of their last five Premier League matches, travel to Newcastle United this afternoon following back-to-back defeats to relegation candidates Wigan Athletic and Queens Park Rangers.
"We have to pick ourselves up," he said. "If we aren't right for the game then it's going to be more difficult for us.
"We have to keep believing in what we're doing. There isn't a magic wand but what we do have is great desire.
"Winning the Carling Cup was fantastic. We said after that finished that we wanted to continue and progress the club as far as we can."
Liverpool are in eighth place in the Premier League ahead of this afternoon's showdown.
