Liverpool defender Joe Gomez was reportedly among five players who missed training ahead of Saturday's home clash with Burnley.
The Reds will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend after their 15-game unbeaten Premier League run came to an end against Arsenal on Sunday.
Despite losing 3-1 to the Gunners, Jurgen Klopp's side still remain top of the Premier League table ahead of the weekend's round of action.
However, they are only two points clear of Manchester City and Arsenal, with the former having the advantage of a game in hand.
With Liverpool now preparing to face relegation-threatened Burnley, there was a surprise absentee from the club's latest training session.
According to the Liverpool Echo, the versatile defender was not spotted in Thursday's session at the AXA Training Centre.
Gomez, who has made 32 appearances this term, has been a regular fixture in the Liverpool side in recent times, having started each of the club's last 11 matches.
The 26-year-old played the majority of the recent defeat to Arsenal, before he was replaced by Thiago Alcantara in the 85th minute.
Thiago was making his first competitive appearance since April last year, but the Spaniard is now set for another spell on the sidelines.
The 32-year-old, who is out of contract in June, sustained a muscle injury in his brief substitute appearance at the Emirates Stadium.
In addition to Gomez and Thiago, Egypt international Mohamed Salah was absent from training, as he continues his recovery from a hamstring injury that he sustained at the Africa Cup of Nations last month.
Dominik Szoboszlai was also forced to miss training after a hamstring issue kept him out of Sunday's trip to North London.
Meanwhile, 20-year-old full-back Conor Bradley remains on compassionate leave following the recent death of his father.
Kostas Tsimikas, who is recovering from a broken collarbone, was able to complete a full session with his teammates on Thursday, while Japan international Wataru Endo was also in attendance after returning from the Asian Cup.
