Liverpool defender Joe Gomez has revealed that he was delighted to see Virgil van Dijk complete a transfer to the Merseyside giants.
Van Dijk officially made the £75m switch from Southampton on New Year's Day, and the centre-back is likely to command a regular starting role at Anfield.
Fellow defender Gomez has admitted that the transfer is "massive" for the club, but the young Englishman is also keen to learn from the Netherlands international.
The 20-year-old told the club's official website: "Personally, for me, it's someone else I can learn from.
"He is an experienced defender with a lot of quality. It's another person for me to develop and learn from, the same as I have with Joel, Dejan, Raggy and so on. It's nice to have someone else to try to help you develop. And for the team it is another massive signing."
Van Dijk could make his debut in Friday's Merseyside derby with Everton in the FA Cup.
