Former Liverpool defender Stephane Henchoz has claimed that the club may struggle to keep Jordan Henderson and Raheem Sterling this summer.
A lack of progress in contract talks has seen both players linked with moves to the likes of Manchester City and Chelsea in recent weeks, and Henchoz believes that Liverpool will find it tough to match the wages on offer if bids come in for the key duo at the end of the season.
"Henderson and Sterling possibly going in the summer is a big problem," he told talkSPORT. "Do they have the money to keep these players though?
"Maybe Liverpool these days are not playing in the same league as Chelsea, Man City, or even Manchester United.
"If you can't offer the same wages that other clubs can, then it's very difficult to keep your best players."
Sterling recently rejected a new deal worth a reported £100k a week, while vice-captain Henderson has just one year remaining on his current deal.
