Everton striker Romelu Lukaku: 'Liverpool are vulnerable'

Everton forward Romelu Lukaku is confident that his side can end their winless run at Anfield this weekend.

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has insisted that Liverpool will be there for the taking in this Saturday's Merseyside derby at Anfield.

The Blues have not defeated their local rivals on enemy territory for 15 years, but the Belgian is confident that his team will put that record to an end this weekend.

"Everyone is talking about Everton and no-one is talking about Liverpool. They are vulnerable. I am not here to criticise," he told The Express.

"I respect them like they have to respect us. We have a good team and when we start getting into winning ways it will be difficult to stop us. This game is an opportunity to turn the season around."

Everton's last victory at Anfield came in September 1999 when Kevin Campbell found the net in a 1-0 win.

Lukaku added: "I know and understand what that goal meant for the club. You can't erase him from the history here, but we can repeat what he did. It's time to move on. The fans are waiting for it.

"It will be a good game because Liverpool don't have the results and we are in a bit of a corner where everything is against us. So it will be a nice game for the neutral - but better for Everton fans."

Lukaku became Everton's record signing when he completed his permanent switch to the club for £28m over the summer.
