Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy has urged Jurgen Klopp to bring in a number of new players during the January transfer window.
The Reds have been linked with the likes of Marc-Andre ter Stegen, Jese Rodriguez and Marko Grujic in recent weeks, but Klopp has so far been coy on potential transfer targets.
However, Murphy believes that they need defensive reinforcements at the very least if they are to work their way into a Champions League place this season.
"I am looking at Liverpool to bring in a few because they really need to finish in the top four," Murphy told talkSPORT.
"I think they need a goalkeeper, a centre-half and maybe if you could get someone in on loan with a bit of pace. Someone you could nick who is not playing in one of the big teams, maybe.
"Most importantly, though, they need a centre-half because I think they look vulnerable."
Red Star Belgrade youngster Grujic is expected to be confirmed as Klopp's first Liverpool signing in the coming days after the clubs reportedly agreed a £5m fee for the 19-year-old.
