Jamie Redknapp has expressed his belief that Lazar Markovic could prove to be a bargain at £20m after seeming to find his feet following an inconsistent start to his Liverpool career.
The Serbian international moved to Anfield from Benfica in the summer, but struggled to command a regular spot in Brendan Rodgers's starting XI.
However, in recent games, the winger has impressed and managed to grab his first Premier League goal in Saturday's 1-0 win over Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.
"It's easy to forget he's just 20 years old," Redknapp wrote in his Daily Mail column. "The red card in the Champions League showed his immaturity, but now we are seeing the potential he has to become a top quality player.
"I love seeing players run with the ball with their head up and he does that brilliantly - like a young Steve McManaman. He cost £20m but he could prove to be a cheap signing in the long term."
The result put Liverpool five points behind fourth-placed Manchester United in the league table.
