Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has hailed the psychological boost that Tuesday night's Merseyside derby win over Everton will have on his team.
The Reds beat their fierce local rivals 4-0 thanks to two goals from Daniel Sturridge and strikes from Luis Suarez and Steven Gerrard, and Rodgers thinks that the win will be huge for his side's Champions League aspirations.
"I'm absolutely delighted, it was a brilliant performance," Rodgers told reporters after the game.
"We were really clinical in front of goal, we had good defensive organisation and we controlled our spaces very well.
"I think that all wins against your rivals are important, but psychologically this was a big, big win for us. It gets confidence right back up there and we'll put our foot to the floor."
Meanwhile, Sturridge has apologised for his reaction to being substituted midway through the second half.
